Who can apply for a Team Kenna scholarship? Any Ohio high school Senior who is pursuing a 4 year college degree in which they intend to use to work directly with children with hearing loss. Occupation interests include, but are not limited to, Audiology, Speech Language Pathology, Sign Language Interpreter, Social Worker, Education and ENT. Scholarships are also available for Ohio high school seniors who have a hearing loss diagnosis.
What type of scholarship do we provide? Team Kenna will provide up to two $1,000 scholarships to Ohio high school Seniors pursuing a degree in which they will directly work with children with hearing loss, and up to two $1,000 scholarships for Ohio high school Seniors who has a hearing loss diagnosis.
How often does the recipient receive a scholarship? The scholarships awarded are a one time scholarship of $1,000.
What is the application process? Ohio high school Seniors will need to completely fill out and submit an online application, along with a required essay on one of the following topics:
1) How has hearing loss affected and shaped you into the person you are today?
2) What does working alongside children with hearing loss mean to you?
3) What is the importance of hearing loss advocacy and awareness in children?
All essays will need to be 5 pages, at minimum.
Applications, along with the essay, will need to be submitted to team4kenna@gmail.com prior to the deadline in order to be considered for entry. A phone or in person interview may be requested based upon number of applicants.
When are applications due and when will the winners be announced? Applications will be available on 1.1.2025. All applications and essays will be due on 3.31.2025. Winners will be announced on Team Kenna's Facebook page, along with a letter of acceptance being sent to the applications home address by 5.1.2025.
How are applicants chosen? Team Kenna's board members will read each essay and review each application. All required criteria must be met to be considered for the scholarship. Board members will then elaborate and vote on the essays. A three out of five vote must be obtained for all final decisions.
Team Kenna grants are contingent on the availability of funds.
